A friend used to have a stall in an antique mall and gave me some of his all stock to complement my existing collection. I freaking love license plates.

That is quite the collection. Of course I can see the region they’ve been collected in.
Georgia’s current one is a future classic.
But they’ve had some good ones in the past, of which I have many (not my photos)

I have a handful, but not many. I’ve got a few more to put up there, though. All of them are plates from cars I’ve had (except the WA, NJ plates, and the disabled plates were my aunt’s, she bought my old Volvo, then gave me the plates when she stopped driving ). I need to buy some ‘68 plates for the Mustang.
Street signs are from my father in law that used to work for the city.

The old-timey PA plate with the state outline looks cool. The blue-white-yellow ones, though, are part of the currently active number series and
should’ve been returned to PennDOT
when they were no longer registered so that the numbers can be reused.

Nice! I have plates from most of my former cars but that is all. Plan is to put them up in the garage but I haven’t yet.

So cool! I see you have an old Yugoslav plate from Tuzla.
If you or anyone else is serious about collecting, I could find some old plates at a flee market here and send them you way... Not sure about the shipping costs but you can get the plates for about 10 bucks.

That is my uncles old plate from when we lived in Bosnia. I took it when I moved to states, together with a piece of coal from the old mines.
Thanks for the offer, I make it back every few years and o might get some next time.

I had some metal (European style) licence plates made for one of the previous cars I never got round to putting them on.
If you want them, let me know. Gratis of course.
((the last three letters were edited out for the picture but are ‘LYY’,
PX16LYY = P X 16LYY = P16LYY = Piglyy, he nce she being called, Piglet)).

To be fair, PennDOT didn’t bother to collect old tags until a few years ago, around the GAA-XXXX series, and most people simply just don’t know
or care, and it took a long time for dealers and registration agents to get used to the idea of
transferring
plates whenever possible instead of automatically issuing new ones.

Nice. Georgia had some fun colorful ones but they were kind of dreary looking in the 2000s up until the peach on the hill scene got added. Custom designs are abundant too.

I think they are boring by design, to encourage people to spend more for the special plates, but I do think they are a handsome design. There are a number of attractive specialty plates as well.

They are British conforming SBAu145d licence plates, reflective licence plates, Charles Wright font correctly spaced, etc... they are merely embossed onto a metal plate.
I don’t want any money at all fella, just say where they are to go to, your house, neighbour’s house, work address, just any place they will be safe until you can get them.

Well, actually. First time I’ve put it on here. I had some bloods done the other week and have an appointment next Wednesday/Thursday to confirm I’ve got type 2 diabetes. Apparently it’s not what I’m eating or how much, it’s the times I’m eating, working nightshift and stress at work and home.
So ye’, that’s fun.

Ouch. I have to admit I had some fears for you based on the, admittedly awesome photos you posted. The lack of anything green concerned me. Working shitty hours must be shitty, and all the health problems with your dad (stepdad, can’t remember now) probably don’t help the stress.
Good luck fighting it. Proper diet can do wonders. My FIL had prostate tumor removed and since then, his diet has changed and he did wonderful on his last checkup.

Ye’, till I get my second appointment and confirmation and then get referred to a dietitian I’m a bit up in the air, in fact I’ve had stomach and lower abdomen cramps and shooting paint for the last week as I’m not sure what’s okay to eat, so I pretty much haven’t eaten. It’s all fun.

I don’t know about modern classic. The early 2012 issues I’ve seen haven’t aged well, lots of fading. Flat plates just don’t do it for me as a collector, they’re made to be disposable after 7 years. Not that GA had made a really good embossed plate recently. Best GA plate in my opinion was the “Georgia on My Mind” base. I love the thick embossed characters. The sunset plate is also really nice, I would love a special reissue of these kinda like CA’s Black and Yellow reissue.
IMO the Peach on the Hill one is kinda busy. I don’t hate it, but A1 Standard “Peach on white” is much more attractive in my opinion. It’s what I run now, looks really good on a white car.

That sounds more like an ulcer than diabetes, but I’m not an expert. Good luck anyway. I’ve been on a diet because I got to be 21 lbs heavier than what I like and it sucks. I lost 8 - 13 to go, and if I make it, I’ll aim for another 10lbs.

Bloods came back okay for heart, liver, kidney, etc... no infection but a sugar level off 55 and she said they take a closer look at anything over 48.
A diabetic nurse saw the dark freckling on the top of my toes and said she she’s it often.
Wednesday/Thursday will either be a confirmation of type 2 or the start of further investigation.
Thank goodness for the NHS. At least I don't have the stress of bills adding up.

I thought it added some nice contrast, especially when on a grayscale car. The On my Mind is pretty classic but I thought the plain peach was perhaps a little plain. I think the current one emulates the sunset one well but it does have a lot going on. At the very least I think we can agree the sunset was a good design.
True that modern flat plates don’t age as well and the thinner modern plates don’t display as well. Here’s some of my collection, all from family members.
Sad that there are no retro plates like California. People would love that.

I might try and write a letter to someone about getting the sunset re-released. Wouldn't be that hard to do since all the plates are printed now anyway, just need the digital file which is easily replicated. Might start snooping around on this.

The question is, “to whom do I write?” Perhaps get your Georgia General Assembly rep to write a letter to the right place.
Perhaps you should also ask for another option on classic vehicles. The Model T one just doesn't do it for me. A full colored one would be much better if YOMs are allowed.
